The study examines how emotional hostility between supporters of Germany’s Greens and AfD contributes to polarized climate-policy attitudes. Using panel data from 2016–2025, it finds that voters increasingly adopt their preferred party’s position when they perceive a strong divide between the two parties on climate policy.
